A Message from our Chrome Hill LOH

A Happy New Year to all our lady members. Its pleasing to see lady numbers increasing year on year. We are now 17 strong but we still have only 5 who ride. It would be great to have more so if any of you pillion riders are interested in getting in the front seat why not go for it. I was 60 as a pillion for my first motorcycle ride. Not content in that seat I took lessons and aged 61 passed my direct access test to enable me to buy and ride a Harley (this was my only reason for learning to ride a motorbike). I then went on in 2017 to gain my IAM Qualification at Sheffield Advanced Motorcyclists.

It’s never too late!

As numbers increase it occurs to me that we should be organising some LOH only events for the Chapter. I’m thinking Spa weekends, Dancing, or just a plain get together. If any of you out there have any ideas what we could all do as a group please let me know and we can begin to plan.

For the riders amongst us there is an opportunity to ride together or with the organised  Sparkle Tour’s and other LOH weekends away. Obviously we are limited in numbers for that but should that be of interest I will keep everyone posted with dates and potential costs. I understand these get togethers are in the main very relaxed and although it obviously includes a fair bit of riding there is plenty of opportunity to chill out and enjoy each other’s company.

Currently, events such as The Sparkle Tour, which is now an annual LOH event, other LOH events home and away, as well as Lady Rider Days take ladies to various and interesting destinations.

Please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you’re interested. Although these are not Chapter Events, they are get together’s with other like-minded LOH officers and members so are organised more on a national and regional basis. Our editor Sandy Greenham is fully versed with most of this, so I’m sure she will answer any questions should there be interest in joining in any of the above mentioned. On a more personal note, I am looking forward to riding in warmer climates sooner rather than later, followed by a long awaited planned event, (unfortunately cancelled by unforeseen circumstances last year) back on track,  riding the 500 miles of beautiful NORTH COAST of Scotland (NC500) with our Director Derek and Viv, not forgetting husband Dennis! Will keep the pics updated as we ride!

May I say a huge welcome to Sandy our new Editor officer and Phil our safety officer.

In the meantime here’s to another year’s riding and hitching a ride on our beloved HD’s of all shapes and sizes.

Enjoy the season.
